PART IV — THE BATTLE FOR MY SONS (1982–1990)

Chapter 15
Kidnapping Charges and the Llano County Arrest

My Cece filed kidnapping charges against me in Illinois and obtained a twelve‑thousand‑dollar judgment, claiming I had not been paying my child support. That was not true. I had always paid my child support through the Child Support System in Brazoria County, and I had never missed a payment.

Not long after, while my son Ben, Tina, and I were traveling to Brady to see my mother, I was pulled over by the Sheriff of Llano County. He let me go at first, then pulled me over a second time because the Illinois warrant for kidnapping had shown up on his computer. The warrant carried a ten‑thousand‑dollar extradition charge that the Sheriff wanted. He took me to jail, fingerprinted me, took my belt, and put me in a cell. Ben was right there, but the Sheriff let Tina and Ben go on to Brady. They were only interested in the money.

The next morning, they could not find the warrant on the computer since it was not supposed to be there in the first place. It was an Illinois warrant and was only enforceable in Illinois. They had to let me go.
